Full of Tricks

Quinn Marie is full of new tricks lately. As we mentioned in the last post, she's getting really close to sitting on her own (this morning it was for over 30 seconds!) and she can cover an entire room by rolling over. She's also doing great at developing her small motor skills. She's gotten especially good at passing objects back and forth and picking them up when she drops them. It's crazy because these are little things we take for granted, but huge accomplishments for a 5 month old!

Quinn also is sporting a new tooth this week! Sunday night her top left tooth popped through and we have reason to believe she's working on its pair.

So in honor of all her new fancy moves and the fact I haven't been great at posting lately, I dolled Q up in some tutus (one from her great-aunt Kim) and stuck the cutest little stockings on her. Quite the look for our little ballerina in training!

And here's another fun thing Quinn's doing: she's awesome at holding herself up, but she likes to "let go" and pull a little mini Superman. The last few days she's added a nice little screech when she lets herself go. Tooo funny.

Sittin' Pretty

Quinn is really working on sitting by herself. Today she seems to really be making progress! Hopefully soon we'll be posting photos without mom holding her at all!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Little Miss Quinn had a great first Thanksgiving! She got to see all of her Kansas grandparents and is enjoying spending so much time with them. She especially loves to smile at GG!

Papa & GG's house has tons of room to roll around and play!

And she has tons of fun toys to play with here. She even has her very own room!

This Thanksgiving, we are especially thankful for our wonderful Quinn Marie. She truly is such a blessing!

Goodbye Bumbo?

Since she was about 2 months old Quinn has been rockin' the bumbo. At first we'd try it out just to see how she'd do in it. Then later it became the key to getting dinner fixed, a bottle made or the kitchen cleaned. Now? Well, I'm afraid our bumbo days might be behind us. Why you ask? Well, it might be because Q's working on sitting by herself or it might be just because she's not digging sitting still. Either way, I thought we'd take a trip down bumbo lane.

Quinn at 2 months rock chalkin' in the bumbo:

Quinn at 4.5 months keepin' it real while mom cooked dinner. (I taught her the art of boiling pasta. She's a pro now.)

Shocked to see Q in gear that's not pink? This bumbo is brought to us courtesy of the Bemis family. Thank you Beemers for lending us the blessed bumbo and helping us keep all the baby junk to a minimum. We owe ya!

Bath Time!

Who doesn't love a baby at bath time? And when it's Quinnie in the bath, it's even better! We are very fortunate that she loves to take a bath. She's even good when water gets in her eyes. Let's hope she keeps it up!

Grins from the Crib

Quinn is generally so happy after she wakes up from a nap, which makes it even more fun to go in and get her. Today I thought I'd share those crib-time smiles with you! Happy Friday!

Here's to the ladies who lunch

Today Quinn attended her very first luncheon. Some of my favorite Symphony friends invited us for lunch and we had such a nice time. She had so much fun with Vicki, Audrey, Susan and little Eli. She even got a beautiful knitted blanket, an outfit AND a soft little puppy book that makes noises! Quinn's a pretty lucky little lady to have such great Des Moines friends!

All Smiles

For awhile we thought Quinn was teething again, but she's been all smiles lately, so maybe more teeth is still a little while away. She was such a happy girl yesterday! Look at this big ol' smile (and those chubby cheeks)!

Tongue-in-Cheek

I've mentioned before that Quinn likes to stick her tongue out when she smiles. Well tonight she decided to keep that tongue out no matter what. I was laughing so hard when we were changing her into her PJs and luckily she kept it up a bit so we could get it on video.

Warning: this might be my worst filming to date. It's not really focused and sometimes I was looking at Q myself instead of through the view-finder, but well, you get the gist.

Weekend Playtime

Miss Quinn had a great weekend! Friday night we hung out with our friends the Koopmans and Greggs and then on Saturday Quinn got to play with her new toy, a jumper that we're borrowing from Erin & Billy. Super fun!

Saturday night Eric and Laura came over to play. Quinn had so much fun with her godparents! Eric had her smiling all night! (No tears this time!) :)

Quinn rounded out the weekend cheering on the Vikes with her dad. And even though they didn't pull off a W, they still had fun snuggling, reading and playing.

Quinn is 5 Months Old!

Our little Quinn is five months old today! They are so right when they say time flies with a little one. Quinn gets more and more fun each day. This month she discovered her feet (which are SO fun to eat!) and sticking her tongue out. She loves to laugh and giggle and is obsessed with her puppy Millie. She's rolling around a ton and loves grabbing things. And pretty much everything these days goes in her mouth!

We're so blessed to have such a beautiful, happy and healthy baby. We love her so much!

Roll into the weekend

Well even though Quinn is sad because Grandma Nan left for Minnesota this afternoon she is still managing to keep a smile on her face. Maybe it's because she has her favorite friend Millie to distract her.

And so Grandpa Gary won't think we're lying about Quinn's awesome mobility, I'm finally posting a video of her rolling. Sadly I didn't capture the Rolling Olympics she's been demonstrating for us lately, but at least we got some action. Happy weekend!

Grandma Nan is here!

Quinn is so excited. Why you ask? Because Grandma Nan is here for a visit! Grandma came yesterday afternoon and gets to stay until Friday. Quinn has having so much fun playing with her Grandma!

Polka-Dot Day

Today's picture is compliments of our fabulous nanny, Morgan. This is the photo I got on my phone today. Makes me so anxious to get home and see our girl!

Pretty in Pink

We just loved the outfit Morgan put Quinn in today: a pretty pink dress from GG and adorable shoe-tights that Quinn is borrowing from her friend Josie. Jay thought she looked so grown-up! Clearly, she's pretty happy in pink too. Here are a couple of pics and a video of our little pumpkin today.

Happy Girl

It really doesn't take much to make Quinn smile. Either a funny noise or a funny face or even just a smile from someone generally does the trick. Today she was kicking and squealing just because!

I'd like to think that one of the reasons she's so happy is because I made her a couple new bows today (etsy eat your heart out!). Here's a pic of Quinn with one of my experiments. (Needs a little tweaking, but overall, not too bad!)

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday everyone! Today is going to be a big day for Quinn. First, we have a playdate with some of our favorite friends, the Bemises and Wittrocks. And then tonight we're going over to Jay's old boss's house where Quinn will get to meet two more little girls. Our little one started gearing up for her fun Friday with some playtime in her room. She just loves rolling around and smiling for the camera!

And here's a little video I shot. You can see how she's trying to scoot toward her toys and at the end she'll give you all a little roll! Hope you all have as fun of a Friday as Quinn!

Election Night is Fun!

It's election day in America and just because you're a baby doesn't mean you can't join in the fun. Here's Quinn talking with Daddy about who he voted for and the details of working the Republican "War Room"

See how happy our little girl is in her elephant jammies?

And even with all the seriousness of poll-watching, Q still finds time for a good belly laugh. (That Daddy is SO silly!)

Fun with Dad

I've been in bed with the flu so that means that Q got to hang with Jay last night. Not so lucky for mama, but very lucky for Quinn. She loves playing with her daddy. Sometimes they do silly things, but other times they are very serious. Here is a picture of them last week catching up on the news of the day:

Quinn loves her daddy!
